Vegan Fish Sauce

In this post we are sharing an easy recipe of vegan “fish” sauce, we get questions on vegan fish sauce all the time and for most it’s a product that’s really hard to find, here with only 5 ingredients and just a little time you can make your own vegan dish sauce at home, the soy sauce and vegan oyster sauce give it a good savoury taste and the yeast extract(here we used marmite) adds a maximal amount of umami to the sauce 😋you can use it in all kinds of dishes where fish sauce is required.

Vegan Fish Sauce

Prep Time 1 hour
Cook Time 15 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 10 Shiitake Mushrooms dried
  • 1.5 sheets Kelp
  • 1.2 L Water
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Vegan Oyster
  • 1 tbsp Yeast Extract Paste

Instructions
 

  • Soak the shiitake and kelp in water for 1 hour.
  • Add the ingredients with water to a pot, heat it up over medium-low heat, when it starts to simmer, let it cook for 10 mins
  • Take the kelp and shiitake out, turn off the heat. Add soy sauce, vegan oyster sauce and yeast extract paste.
  • Wait for it to cool down then store it in air-tight bottles, it can be kept in the fridge for 2 weeks.
