Scallion Tofu 蔥燜豆腐

Scallion Tofu is one of the easiest and quickest tofu dishes there is, with only scallion and tofu, and two sauces, you can make it within 5 minutes. After braising in sauces, the tofu absorbs the flavor of the sauce and the aroma of scallion, super yummy and juicy.

  • 500 g Tofu tender or firm
  • 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 10 g Ginger
  • 2 tbsp Vegan Oyster(Mushroom) Sauce
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Corn/Potato Starch
  • 5 Stalks Scallion


  • Cut the tofu into cubes(1.5cm*1.5cm), cut garlic, ginger and scallion into pieces. Add 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp vegan oyster sauce, 1/2 tsp starch to a bowl, mix everything well.
  • Add oil in a non-stick pan(medium heat), add garlic and ginger, stir for 15s then add tofu cubes, move them gently so they don’t stick to the pan. After 1 minute add the sauce and gently stir the tofu cubes so they are all immersed in the sauce. 
  • Put the lid on the pan, let it cooked for about 5 minutes(tilt the pan gently in between to avoid stickig), then removes the lid and let it cooked for about 2 more minutes, until most of the sauce is gone, add all the scallion and stir gently, let it cooked for another minute and turn off the stove.


It is recommended to use tender tofu for this recipe as it absorbs more sauce and can be very juicy. When flipping the tofu while pan-frying, be careful not to break it.
